1. Interviewer想通過這個問題考察candidate如何面對工作中棘手的問題。
2. 根據(jù)candidate解決困境的方法可以了解其與人合作及共同的能力。
知道了interviewer的意圖,那我們就需要有的放矢,在自己的“故事”里著重突出自己以上兩方面的能力。比如你是一個manager,由于公司發(fā)展策略原因現(xiàn)在需要你去layoff幾個手下的員工,這種問題最為棘手。那一方面為了公司的利益必須要釋放掉一些同事,另一方面又要采取堅(jiān)定又溫和的方式與被釋放的同事談這個事情。下面就是一個這方面的例子供大家參考:
As a manager, the most difficult decisions I make involve layoffs. Before making those tough decisions, I always think carefully about what is best for the business and my employees. While I do not relish making those kinds of choices, I do not shy away from this part of my job. A few years ago, I had to let some employees go due to the company’s plan. This was a hard decision that was ultimately necessary for the good of the company and everyone working for the organization.
另一個經(jīng)常遇到的困難場景就是多個team之間合作解決問題,由于牽扯不同的部門,不同的人,關(guān)注點(diǎn)也不一樣,因此溝通起來也是困難重重。但是如果你能處理好這種問題,就更能凸顯出你的能力。下面是另一個關(guān)于處理這種困境的例子供大家參考:
Decisions I have to make within a team are difficult, only because these decisions take more time and require deliberate communication between team members. For example, I was working on a team project, and my colleagues and I had to make a number of choices about how to use our limited budget. Because these decisions involved group conversations, our team learned how to communicate effectively with one another, and I believe we ultimately made the best decisions for the team.
