研究方向：日地能量耦合、磁層亞暴、太陽與磁層活動(dòng)現(xiàn)象研究，磁場(chǎng)重聯(lián)，無碰撞磁場(chǎng)重聯(lián)，Hall電流及電子壓力梯度效應(yīng)研究。

科研成果：在磁場(chǎng)重聯(lián)、磁層與太陽活動(dòng)現(xiàn)象的研究工作中取得具有國(guó)際先進(jìn)水平的研究成果，率先給出重聯(lián)區(qū)域內(nèi)溫度、密度分布及其隨時(shí)間的演化。首先提出臨界磁雷諾數(shù)概念，研究結(jié)果所展現(xiàn)的高磁雷諾數(shù)長(zhǎng)電流片的非穩(wěn)態(tài)重聯(lián)，引起國(guó)際著名學(xué)者關(guān)注。通過數(shù)值模擬展示了通量傳輸和太陽大氣中爆發(fā)事件的觀測(cè)特征，在探討這些事件觀測(cè)特征的物理機(jī)理方面作出了有價(jià)值的貢獻(xiàn)，所發(fā)表論文在國(guó)內(nèi)外重要刊物上多次被引用，國(guó)際同行權(quán)威人士在評(píng)論文章中曾予以詳細(xì)評(píng)述與充分肯定?！按艌?chǎng)重聯(lián)的數(shù)值研究”榮獲96年度安徽省教委科技進(jìn)步一等獎(jiǎng)和97年度中國(guó)科學(xué)院自然科學(xué)二等獎(jiǎng)（排名第一）。最近關(guān)于磁層亞暴期間磁尾多重等離子體團(tuán)的2.5維MHD模擬，取得了出色成果，研究論文已在J.Geophys.Res.發(fā)表，該論文在認(rèn)知磁尾等離子體團(tuán)豐富的觀測(cè)資料方面，具有重要的科學(xué)意義，受到國(guó)內(nèi)外同行的好評(píng)。承擔(dān)國(guó)家自然科學(xué)基金面上項(xiàng)目，合作參與國(guó)家自然科學(xué)基金重點(diǎn)項(xiàng)目、重大項(xiàng)目多項(xiàng)。
